Is it okay to lay on the tube?
Yes, it is; however, you may want to sleep on the opposite side until the initial soreness is gone.
My tube came out. What do I do?
This is rarely an emergency. Do not go to the emergency room unless there is a lot of pain or fever. Notify our office the next morning as soon as possible so we can consult radiology about scheduling a time to replace it.
It smells bad. May I change the bandage?
The discharge around tubes does have an odor even when not infected. Be careful to not pull the tube out while you are removing the tape. It is okay to shower and replace the bandage.
